HOUSE CHURCHES

A house church is a Jesus-centered community made up of people who are committed to participating in God’s mission in their everyday lives. Our house churches are often formed around a shared calling to a particular neighborhood, need, and/or network of relationships. Alternatively, a house church may be made up of a group of people who have different missional callings but come together regularly to support, encourage, and equip one another to step further into that calling. In this “incubator” expression of a house church, we seek to discover ways that our various missional calling intersect so that those we are called to might find their way into Jesus-centered community. Due to their size, accessibility, focus, and flexibility, we believe that house churches are uniquely positioned for deep community, organic discipleship, and missional engagement.

Our house churches meet in homes and social spaces throughout Knoxville. The meeting times, locations, and rhythms for each house church vary based on its focus and members. We believe that every full expression of Jesus’ Church, regardless of model or form, will express themselves as the Church by these three essential rhythms: WORSHIP, COMMUNITY, and MISSION. We call this the ecclesial minimum. In our house churches, we commit to express these three rhythms in ways that resonate with our community and our calling, and we regularly consider how we can grow in each of the rhythms using this diagnostic tool:
